Heaven 03:56
everyone is trying to get to the bar the name of the bar, the bar is called heaven the band in heaven, they play my favorite song they play it once again, they play it all night long heaven is a place a place where nothing nothing ever happens there is a party, everyone is there everyone will leave at exactly the same time it's hard to imagine that nothing at all could be so exciting, could be so much fun yeah, heaven is a place a place where nothing nothing ever happens when this kiss is over, it will start again it will not be any different, it will be exactly the same it's hard to imagine that nothing at all could be so exciting, could be this much fun heaven is a place a place where nothing nothing ever happens heaven

about

it's hard to say enough about this song, and yet the way to do it justice is to say as little as possible.

the sound, the performance, and the lyrics have stuck with me through the years, and especially these days since my dad died and i've been thinking a lot about death and the afterlife.

David Byrne makes heaven sound like a place that is every bit as peaceful and safe that people say it is, and yet he says: heaven is a place where nothing ever happens. maybe "nothing" is not the opposite of "everything"-- and they're actually one and the same. maybe once our experiences of life are over, when we're dead, we stop being "something", and we get to be "everything" ... and therefore "nothing at all"
