Bastille Day 05:16
------------------------------------------- A new revolution and you are the king The warriors wait out in the streets For this execution get out of the way 'Cause baby it's Bastille Day today I will take you, I'll take you with me I can drive all night if you let me Buckle up hold still please, I'll take you with me I'm the driver, you're coming with me You're coming with me There won't be armies, there won't be songs The battle will stay right where it belongs I've got my scriptures and one enemy, A weapon, and the right place to be I will take you, I'll take you with me I can drive all night if you let me Buckle up hold still please, I'll take you with me I'm the driver, you're coming with me

Wasting Time 03:04
----------------------------------------------------------------------- from where i'm standing it sure looks like you're walking away your feet are barely moving so my heart is surely winning the race well i can't tell if there's anything real i could say that would bring you back home so i'm going to have to call it a day because i'm wasting time i'm talking to the spot where you used to be standing before i'm wasting time i'm talking to the spot where you used to be standing before the way i'm talking would move her if it wasn't too late now i'm saying all the words that she used to always beg me to say and i just know if she heard me say it back in the day i'd be done with all the ghosts and the heartache that i keep in her place and now i'm wasting time i'm talking to the spot where she used to be standing before i'm wasting time i'm talking to the spot where she used to be standing before

Death 03:53
---------------------- you have been true for a long long time time has stood still but i'm still yours and you're still mine though we must obliquely run you make me end where i begun and i'm still in love with you don't you ever be afraid you hurt me it would never mean a thing unless you loved me don't you ever be afraid you hurt me it would never mean a thing unless you loved me rest in my hands let me cry and try to speak slow your breath and let my voice sing you off to sleep though the world may moan around me i have shown that i'm still in love with you don't you ever be afraid you hurt me it would never mean a thing unless you loved me don't you ever be afraid you hurt me it would never mean a thing unless you loved me give warning to the world that we lost a good one today i'm alright she's only gone forever i'm alright death's only done forever
4.
-------------------- the world's on fire the world's on fire and we give in the world's on fire and we love it that way there will be no peace on earth not while innocent and criminal men exist no, there will be no peace among men not while guilt and punishment exist not while the world's on fire the world's on fire and we give in the world's on fire and we love it that way one day there will be no words for if you haven't got enough to eat and one day there will be no words for children who were not born free but not while the world's on fire the world's on fire and we give in the world's on fire and we love it that way and we made it that way 'cause we want it that way turn it over turn it over and over again turn it over until the underneath's on top until the underneath's on top one day there'll be peace on earth just like the day before the very first slave and one day there'll be peace among men slavery was born and so it shall die but not while the world's on fire the world's on fire and we give in the world's on fire and we love it that way turn it over turn it over and over again turn it over until the underneath's on top until the underneath's on top until the underneath's on top

about

reggae is an opportunity to tell the true tale of hard times, and to be with things that are too widespread, too big, and too dark to allow ourselves to fully embrace in the small moments of our personal daily lives

in 2017 the world was on fire. lots of people in the world had found themselves in places in life where it was an acceptable course of action to kill a stranger.

the lead track is about the driver of the truck that killed the people in the crowd celebrating Bastille Day in France, and the image for the album cover is taken from Diamond Reynolds' live streaming phone after it fell on the ground after police officer Jeronimo Yanez shot and killed her boyfriend Philando Castile.

the world was on fire, and i wanted to sing about it. it seemed like a job that was appropriate to the spirit of reggae music.
